LA CACCIATRICE DI ANIME
Francesca tiene in mano un pugnetto di terra. Davanti a lei c’è la tomba del suo migliore amico su cui avrebbe dovuto ballare Dancing Queen e che, invece, quasi non riesce a guardare. Paul è morto e sepolto, e ora lei non sa dove andare. Potrebbe fermarsi a New Orleans, nella stanza-studio che lui le ha offerto in casa sua, con le persone che ha iniziato a frequentare per via dell’amico, continuare a creare le sue opere, fare fotografie, vivacchiare… Ma il suo spirito irrequieto la spinge a riabbracciare la vita girovaga di prima. Che fare dunque? La risposta le viene dallo stesso Paul in forma di sfida: per testamento, le ha lasciato Coffie, un pazzesco carro funebre d’epoca, e una serie di indizi per giocare con lui a una caccia al tesoro. Il premio: scoprire chi si celava dietro il transgender obeso, istrionico, accentratore e sagace che era stato il suo amico. Eccola allora, a bordo di Coffie, a percorrere le assolate strade della Louisiana, ripensando in flashback a cosa ha rappresentato Paul per lei. E mentre incontra persone e affronta le situazione più strane, il suo passato torna ad affiorare con sempre maggiore insistenza. Qualcosa sembra suggerirle che è da lì, dal fare pace con i propri demoni, che potrebbe ripartire.

Francesca is holding a fistful of earth. She stands in front of her best friend’s tomb, where she should have danced to Dancing Queen, but instead, she can hardly even look at it. Paul is dead and buried, and she no longer knows where to go. She could stay in New Orleans, in the studio-room that he offered her in his house, with the people whom she began to hang out with through him; she could continue to work on her art, take photos, get by... But her unsettled spirit pushes her to embrace her life on the road, prior to Paul. What should she do then? The answer comes from Paul himself, in the form of a challenge: in his testament he leaves her Coffie, an incredible vintage hearse, and a series of clues that will take her on a treasure hunt ‘with him’. The prize: to discover who that obese, dramatic, magnetic and shrewd transgender, who had been her friend, really was. So here she is, driving Coffie down the sunny roads of Louisiana, with flashbacks to what Paul meant to her. And as she meets people and come across the strangest of situations, her past comes back to haunt her with increasingly insistence. Something is telling her it’s only from there, from facing her demons, that she can finally move on.
